PlayGaraj for iPhone: Install the Full App Experience on iOS

We know a lot of you are on iPhone and iPad, and there has never been a PlayGaraj app in the App Store. That gap is now closed — not with a native app, but with something that behaves just like one: playgaraj.com is now a full, installable app experience for iOS, sitting right alongside proper desktop/PC support.

Here is everything that changed:

📲 INSTALL PLAYGARAJ ON YOUR IPHONE OR IPAD

iOS does not let websites trigger their own install prompt the way Android does, so there is no "Install App" button to tap. Instead, PlayGaraj now guides you through Safari's own install path — and once installed, it stops looking like a website at all.

  1. Add to Home Screen, the Right Way
    • Open playgaraj.com in Safari, tap the Share button, then choose Add to Home Screen.
    • A friendly on-screen hint shows up after a few seconds on your first visit, pointing at exactly the right button — and it stays out of your way if you dismiss it.
  2. No More White Flash on Launch
    • Opening a home-screen web app used to mean a blank white screen for a moment before anything appeared — the biggest tell that you were not in a "real" app.
    • PlayGaraj now ships a dedicated launch screen for essentially every iPhone and iPad screen size, so the app opens straight into its own dark background instead of a flash of white.
  3. Runs Full-Screen, Like an App
    • Launched from your home screen, PlayGaraj opens in standalone mode — no address bar, no Safari tabs, just the app.
    • A proper app icon represents PlayGaraj on your home screen, not a generic browser bookmark icon.

🔐 SIGN-IN THAT ACTUALLY WORKS ON iOS

  • Google Sign-In, Fixed for Standalone Mode: Signing in with Google inside an installed iOS web app is notoriously fragile. Authentication now runs through PlayGaraj's own domain instead of a third-party auth domain, so Google Sign-In works reliably whether you are in Safari or in the installed app.
  • Registration & Age Verification, Matched to the App: Sign-up and the birth-date age verification step now follow the exact same rules and flow as the Android app, so your account behaves identically on every platform.

💬 CHAT, LISTINGS & PROFILES — SYNCED WITH THE APP

This was not a stripped-down "mobile web" experience bolted onto the site — the whole interface was rebuilt on the app's own design system, down to the theme colors, typography, and card layouts.

  • Real Chat: Message bubbles, read receipts, and a typing indicator that no longer flickers — the same conversation experience as the app, in your browser.
  • Listing Details, Two Ways: Listing pages now use the app's own mobile and desktop layouts depending on your screen, instead of a single cramped view stretched to fit.
  • Moderation Status, Visible to Owners: If a listing you posted is pending review or was rejected, you see exactly why — right on your profile and on the listing itself, using the same review pipeline as the app.
  • 18+ Content Handling: Listings marked as containing mature content are blurred with a clear badge and require a warning to be confirmed before they open, matching the app's rules everywhere they appear.

🖥️ BUILT FOR PC TOO

  • A Real Desktop Layout: Navigation, listing details, and the content feed all adapt to wide screens instead of just stretching a phone layout — PlayGaraj on a laptop or desktop finally looks like it was designed for one.
  • Calmer Header on Large Screens: The logo animation in the header now stops on wide viewports, so it stays out of the way instead of distracting from the page.
  • Dynamic Feed Cards: The home feed can now surface cards managed centrally from our admin panel — announcements and highlights that reach everyone instantly, on any device.

⚠️ WHAT'S STILL APP-ONLY

In the spirit of not overselling this: a couple of things are not on the web yet, and we would rather tell you plainly than let you hit a dead end.

  • PRO & Credits: Purchases still go through Google Play Billing in the Android app. The good news — once purchased, PRO and your credits work everywhere, including here on the web.
  • Editing a Listing: Listing edits are not on the web yet. If a listing needs changes, PlayGaraj currently sends you to the Android app to fix it and resubmit — we're working on bringing this to the web directly.

🛡️ SAFER, MORE RELIABLE

  • Pre-Publish Review: Listings posted from the web now go through the same review step as the app before they go live, and our Terms, Privacy Policy, and Community Guidelines were updated to match.
  • Age Verification in Our Privacy Policy: The birth-date verification step is now fully documented in our privacy policy.
  • Home Feed Reliability Fix: Fixed a bug where the home feed could quietly stop loading more listings after the first page, and closed a gap that could let a hidden listing flash on screen before being filtered out.
